AUDIO AND VISUAL EDITING

Lucy and PenelopeArtist Name
00:00 / 03:03

During this assignment I had to make an audio recording of myself reading a story and then edit the audio as well as add in additional audio elements such as sounds effects to the recording. First, I recorded myself on the computer and then used Audacity to edit the recording and layer in the sound effects for the story.

For the visual editing portion, I was to use pictures that I had taken and edit them in some way. The images on the left are the originals while the ones on the right have been edited. I used Canva to edit my images, and for the first image I chose to make it appear older, for the second I removed the wire coming from the top of the castle and did some minor enhancements, and for the third I chose to blur the background of the image bringing the focus to my face.

COURSE PROPOSAL AND COURSE DESIGNS

The above link will allow you to access a PDF of the course proposal for Survey Design for Social Science Research, a collaborative effort with fellow students Kerri Qualls and Hongyan Yang. I've selected this project as it marks my inaugural group endeavor, showcasing not only my prowess in effective teamwork but also my role as a leader in guiding the collaborative process. The course we developed focuses on cultivating a collaborative community of inquiry with a robust social presence. We placed particular emphasis on aspects of accessibility, diversity, and equity to ensure the comfort and visibility of all students in the online environment. Ensuring accessibility is not only a legal requirement in many instances but is also a matter of ethical responsibility.

The foundational principles of Instructivism and Behaviorism are woven into the course structure, incorporating formative assessments aligned with Bloom’s Taxonomy. Ultimately, our course is learner-centric, designed to address the varied needs of graduate students engaged in research for their dissertations or theses, thereby facilitating their successful completion of their graduate degree.

The link above will direct you to a course that I crafted on the topic of Hybrid Workplaces and Blended Learning, utilizing Articulate Rise. This course serves as a testament to my proficiency in instructional design, highlighting my ability to create a self-paced, standalone learning experience, and also my proficiency in navigating and leveraging the features of Articulate Rise. Throughout the development process, focus was placed on ensuring a seamless blend of theoretical concepts, practical applications, and engaging multimedia elements. The aim was to provide learners with a well-rounded and immersive educational experience that resonates with the evolving landscape of hybrid work environments and blended learning. By utilizing this particular project, I aim to underscore not only my technical competence but also my dedication to creating learning experiences that are not only informative but also engaging.

The link above will allow you to download a PowerPoint presentation of a course I crafted using iSpring Suite and Talent LMS, in collaboration with fellow student Brittany Morel. Our joint effort utilized interactive media design models to fashion a course centered on the Old Fashioned Mocktail. I chose this project because it holds significance for me as it serves as a showcase of my current proficiency in photo, video, and audio editing, coupled with my adeptness at collaborative teamwork to create an engaging and interactive learning experience. It also provides a preview of my capability to quickly become proficient with new software and Learning Management Systems (LMS). Feel free to explore the presentation and witness the design, collaborative efforts, and adaptability to new tools and platforms in this interactive project.

The above link will take you to a Kiosk project I crafted dedicated to Jekyll Island. This assignment aimed to develop a self-contained kiosk PowerPoint, that seamlessly integrating images, audio, and video into a multimedia presentation. The design emphasis for this project was on simplicity, ensuring that the standalone information could be easily navigated and understood without the need for explicit instructions. I chose this project as it highlights a design approach that prioritizes user-friendliness for learners, valuing simplicity over unnecessary technological complexities in conveying information.

WEBSITE DESIGN

The above link will take you to a website that I collaboratively designed with fellow students Brittany Morel, Keiko Eda, and Taylor Allen, as part of our coursework in INSC589. Our primary objective was not only to underscore the importance of accessibility in instructional design but also to create a dynamic and engaging static HTML site spanning multiple pages. This hands-on project served as a valuable opportunity to enhance our expertise in essential web development skills, including proficiency in HTML and CSS, adept site navigation design, and the creation of a cohesive static website.
Our collective effort in shaping this website allowed us to immerse ourselves in the intricacies of web design, emphasizing the importance of creating a user-friendly and visually appealing online presence. Beyond refining our technical skills, the project provided valuable insights into effective collaboration and the seamless integration of diverse talents toward achieving a common goal. This website serves as a testament to our commitment to mastering the intricacies of web development and delivering a polished, informative, and accessible user experience.

The link above will take you to a website crafted by me for INSC589, leveraging the versatile capabilities of WordPress. This assignment presented a unique opportunity to delve into the realm of web design with a focus on creating a robust online platform enriched with multimedia resources and customized functionality. My aim was to create a website that not only met the project requirements but also showcased my ability to use the various elements available within WordPress.
In the process of developing this website, I engaged with and became familiar with a new suite of website development tools, broadening my skill set and expanding my proficiency in the ever-evolving field of web design. I am not as familiar with WordPress, so the assignment served as a learning experience for me, enabling me to not only explore the details of a novel website development tool but also to understand the seamless integration of diverse multimedia components to enhance user engagement and interactivity.
By navigating through the website, you'll gain insights into my innovative approach to website design, as well as my ability to harness the potential of multimedia elements within a dynamic digital platform. This project not only represents a successful completion of a specific assignment but also stands as a testament to my adaptability, creativity, and commitment to pushing the boundaries of web design in the pursuit of an engaging and functional online experience.
